Estate Planning

Introducing Simple Will

Having a will isn't just for the wealthy or elderly – it's an essential document that everyone needs, regardless of their life stage or asset value.

Without a will, you leave crucial decisions about your estate to provincial laws rather than your own wishes. This means your assets may not go to the people you would have chosen, your children's guardianship could be decided by the courts, and your loved ones might face unnecessary stress, delays, and expenses during an already difficult time.

Even in seemingly straightforward situations – like wanting everything to go to your spouse or children – a will ensures your wishes are legally documented and makes the process significantly smoother for your family. It also lets you make specific gifts to people or charities you care about, name an executor you trust, and potentially reduce taxes on your estate.

Creating a will is one of the most thoughtful things you can do for your loved ones, giving them clear direction and peace of mind when they need it most.

A Simple Will is the perfect solution for many Ontarians who have straightforward estate planning needs. If you have clear wishes about distributing your assets to immediate family members, don't require complex trust arrangements, and have a typical family situation, a Simple Will provides everything you need without unnecessary complexity or expense.

Unlike costly comprehensive estate plans that you might not need, or risky do-it-yourself kits that might miss crucial legal requirements, Simple Will is prepared by a lawyer gives you the essential protection and peace of mind at a reasonable fixed price. You get the benefit of professional legal expertise ensuring your will is properly executed and valid under Ontario law, while avoiding the expense of complex estate planning services that your situation doesn't require. It's the smart choice for getting exactly what you need – no more, no less – while ensuring your wishes are legally protected and your loved ones are properly taken care of.

What makes Simple Will different?

Simple Will occupies a sweet spot between traditional lawyer services and DIY will kits, offering distinct advantages over both options:

Compared to Traditional Lawyer Services:

  • Fixed, predictable pricing instead of hourly billing that can quickly escalate

  • Streamlined process designed for straightforward situations, typically completed within 1-2 weeks rather than multiple meetings over several weeks

  • Focus on essential documents without upselling additional complex services you may not need

  • Same legal protection and professional oversight, just packaged more efficiently.

Compared to DIY Will Kits:

  • Prepared by a licensed Ontario lawyer who ensures all legal requirements are met

  • Professional review to catch potential issues or conflicts that could invalidate your will

  • Proper execution and witnessing of documents, eliminating risks of improper signing

  • Legal advice included to answer your questions and confirm your will reflects your wishes

  • Power of Attorney documents professionally prepared (most DIY kits don't include these)

  • Updates and revisions handled professionally if needed

  • Peace of mind knowing your documents will hold up legally
